I would like to introduce Wakuu Higashi, a Buddhist monk with whom I held a peace dialogue the day before my recent performance in Hiroshima.

Whenever I encounter Mr. Higashi’s posts or observe his daily conduct, I am deeply impressed by his—deeply insightful and remarkably precise—views on the human way of being, all grounded in Buddhist philosophy. I have posted a link in the comments section, so please take a look at his posts.

I cannot help but feel profound respect for the way he lives his life; rather than stopping at abstract logic or idealism, he stands by the many people grappling with uncertainty and worry, taking concrete actions that offer genuine solace and support.

He possesses a keen ability to perceive the essence of things, coupled with the drive to translate that insight into warm, practical action for the benefit of others. It is this harmony that gives his words such unwavering persuasiveness.

In these turbulent times, how should we cultivate our hearts and live our lives? He is a wonderful person who consistently offers—quietly yet powerfully—vital perspectives to guide us in answering these questions.
