国家同士の難しい政治や軍事の話だけに頼るのではなく、現地のNGOや市民社会といった「現場のコミュニティ」がどうやって対話の橋渡し（媒介）になれるかということを、ご自身論考を通じて紐解いてこられました。無理に和解を強いるのではなく、双方が安心して寄り添える「中立的な場をどう作るかという「修復的なアプローチ」を一貫して追究されています。

また、特定の宗教の教義や政治的なスローガンに一切依存しないアプローチでの取り組みをされており、祈りや瞑想も宗教としてではなく、人間が本来持っている「他者への共感」や「日常の小さな倫理観」として捉えていらっしゃいます。

今回の広島における「平和瞑想スペース（田北さん創設）」での取り組みや、仏教や数理哲学といった異分野との対話においても、特定の宗教の枠組みを軽々と超えて、多様な知恵を優しく包み込む素晴らしい役割を果たしてくださいました。特定の偏りに縛られず、科学や宗教、そして平和学の知見を等しく尊重しながら調和の場を作り上げたその誠実な姿勢には、本当に頭が下がる思いです。

 

I would like to introduce Fuyuko Takita, with whom I recently held a peace dialogue in Hiroshima. Ms. Takita is a peace scholar specializing in international politics and peace studies; she has conducted extensive fieldwork, visiting conflict zones across Asia and elsewhere firsthand.

Rather than relying solely on complex political or military discussions between nations, she has explored—through her own research and writings—how “grassroots communities,” such as local NGOs and civil society, can serve as bridges for dialogue. She consistently pursues a “restorative approach” focused on creating “neutral spaces” where parties can come together with a sense of security, rather than forcing reconciliation.

Her work relies on no specific religious doctrines or political slogans; she views practices like prayer and meditation not as religious acts, but as expressions of the innate human capacity for empathy toward others and the ethical sensibilities found in everyday life.

Through her initiatives—such as the “Peace Meditation Space” she founded in Hiroshima—and her dialogues across diverse fields like Buddhism and mathematical philosophy, she has played a wonderful role in transcending religious boundaries and gently embracing a wide range of wisdom. I have the utmost respect for her sincere dedication to creating spaces of harmony, grounded in an approach that respects insights from science, religion, and peace studies equally, free from any particular bias.
