物理学者で表現者でもあられる五島秀一さんの書籍の巻末の論文を久しぶりに読み進めています。本編はもちろん自然の摂理を解く素晴らしい内容なのですが、部分的にこれは超科学的？と思える解説も、この巻末の論文が理解できると説得力が著しく増します。驚くべきは五島さんの天才的な創造力と独自の視点です。例えばよく見かける数式（電磁気力や重力など）を旧来の手法から、さらに微視的（スピンをふくむ運動量概念）なふるまいまで厳密に数式化してブレイクスルー（ファラデーの電磁誘導の方程式からロンドン方程式を導出、スピン運動量と重力の関係、ひいては電磁気力との関係式を数式で証明！）なさっているところが目からウロコです。僕もまだ完全理解はできていないものの、数式変換の経緯を見ると、本編内で書かれている「無重力装置が作れる」という文言も「これは作れるな！」となるのです。ご興味ある方は欄外に五島さんのリンクを貼りますのでご覧になってみてください。書跡もいろいろ出されています。これからも目が話せない物理学者のお一人です！（写真は今年対談をさせていただいた時のショットです）
I’ve been reading the essay at the end of a book by physicist and artist Shuichi Goto for the first time in a while. The main text is a fascinating exploration of the laws of nature, but even parts that seem a bit too scientific become significantly more persuasive once you understand the essay at the end of the book. What’s astounding is Goto’s genius creativity and unique perspective. For example, his breakthroughs—deriving the London equation from Faraday’s equation of electromagnetic induction, proving the relationship between spin momentum and gravity, and ultimately the relationship between electromagnetic force, mathematically—by rigorously formulating common mathematical formulas (such as electromagnetic force and gravity) from conventional methods, right down to microscopic behavior (the concept of momentum, including spin)—are truly eye-opening. While I still don’t fully understand it, when I look at the process of mathematical transformation, the statement in the main text, “We can build a zero-gravity device,” becomes a real possibility!
